Thanks to a chance meeting with long-time family friend Carol Lindskog I now have my mom's old recipe for Sloppy Joe's! Don't confuse the following recipe with that multi-deckered alternative found at Mendham, NJ's "Wicker Basket". The recipe below was used at many a community gathering, many a St. Joe's cafeteria lunch and was a staple in the Ritger household in Mendham when I was growing up. SLOPPY JOES | | Serves 100 | Serves 10 | 25 lbs. Ground Beef 10 Cans Tomato Soup 2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder 3 Tablespoons Oregano 2 Cans Black Pitted Ripe Olives 100 Hamburger Buns | 2.5 lbs. Black Pitted Ripe Olives 10 Hamburger Buns | - Make a puree of the Olives in the blender. - Brown meat, and drain. - Put all in large pot. - Simmer 25 minutes. - Serve on hamburger buns. |
