| Notes |
- Henry Sr. was reasonably successful at everything he did, and he did alot. He attended Valparaiso College for awhile, but he had something wrong with his eyes and was even temporarily blind. He had many occupations, among his business interests were - Owning a saw mill, a grocery store, a tavern, and a coal mine. He retired from the coal mining business at the age of 80 after he fell down a mine shaft. He was having trouble doing nothing and took a part-time job as an "elevator boy" at the Vendome Hotel. He worked here for a while until one day he wanted to take the afternoon off to go to a football game. Mr. Schultz, his boss, refused to left him off, so he took the elevator to the basement and quit his last job.
He enjoyed playing poker at the K of C and when he raised usually everyone would fold. He played his cards very close to his vest - he did steal a few pots bluffing.
He also enjoyed playing the "fiddle" and would play at dances on the weekends.
