View of Kleinwallstadt141 viewsI took this photo on the road to the Almhutte which is part way up a hill (Plattenberg) to the north east of Kleinwallstadt.

Gasthof zur Traube176 viewsThe Gasthof zur Traube is located near the center of town and is currently run by Edgar Rittger and his wife Gisela. I had two huge Bratwursts for lunch there and returned a few days later for Weiner Schnitzel. The Traube is deceivingly large as there as it includes several table indoors and outdoors as well as a large room where we had our family reunion.

Rathaus142 viewsI visited the Rathaus with my cousin Herbert. We were lucky to visit it on the one day of the week which it was open in the summer. We were even luckier as the town treasurer was in his office - Helmuth Rittger. Helmuth gave me a number of gifts including a history book of Kleinwallstadt, a ceramic plaque and plate and a bag full of information about the town and the surrounding area.

Town Center125 viewsAt the center of town is the original Rathaus (white building on left). This building has been around since the middle of the 16th century but has been modified a number of times as its function has changed. It served for a time as a fire house, town hall and meeting hall.

Town Center - Wall159 viewsThis section of wall is located at the center of town. The property is owned by the Gerhart family and includes a well which dates from the 1500's.

Altes Rathaus154 viewsOld City Hall - I've seen several old photos of the Rathaus which show that the building has had several modifications to its openings as it served for a time as the firehouse.

Franz Anton Rittger's House166 viewsMy great great grandfather Franz Anton Rittger's house on Amtsgasse. His son, Peter Julian Ritger (my great grandfather) was born and lived here before coming to America.

#9 Amtsgasse Door - Franz Anton Rittger's House183 viewsEntry door to #9 Amtsgasse - Franz Anton Rittger's House. Above the door in chalk is "20 * C * M * B * 06" which is an indication that the home was visited in January, 2006 by the three kings - C = Caspar, M = Melchior, B = Balthasar.
